The Client purchased the existing 3 bedroom bungalow with plans to create something special. The plot is located in a village location and our brief was to replace the bungalow with a contemporary design. The site enjoys rear aspect over adjoining countryside.
The main constraints for the design process was the form and proximity of neighbouring buildings meaning a traditional form was needed to successfully integrate the new building into the existing street scene. The form of the building reflect the roof forms that existing in the context, but contemporary detailing has been adopted to achieve a modern building and meet the clients brief. The materials used complete a clean, crisp appearance achieving an interesting design and a low maintenance solution.
The end result creates a functional property and a striking modern look using standard materials applied to the envelope to achieve the best balance of cost efficiency and maintenance friendly building. The property was selected to appear on the front cover of Home Building and Renovating magazine (October 2015).”
