This clever remodel of an existing bungalow replaces the roof with a lightweight timber framed solution, incorporating a simple roof shape. The property is in a prominent location and will now provide a positive contribution to the public realm. The overall concept has been designed to maximise accommodation at first floor level whilst presenting an non contentious increase in mass and bulk to the street scene. Full details will be available on the website shortly.

It seems a while since we have posted anything on the blog about projects currently in the studio. Here's just one of the current design proposals we are working on for a contemporary remodel. The new design retains 80% of the existing ground floor structure which is just over 300m². The new design provides 6 bedrooms and takes the total accommodation to over 500m².

This property is situated in a unique location with the rear garden connecting immediately onto the beach offering stunning sea views from inside the property. The new design overcomes some major structural constraints, avoiding the need to remove the existing foundations and structural slab by constructing a new top floor in a lightweight pre-fabricated solution. I am delighted to report that the remodel of this existing chalet bungalow in a conservation area, was granted planning permission on the first attempt. We took a collaborative approach with the Local Authority and following some minor negotiations an approval was achieved by delegated powers. We are looking forward to the next stage of the project which will include producing working drawings to enable construction to commence.

I am delighted that our scheme this remodel has been granted in Bradley, Hampshire. The complete transformation of a 1970's built bungalow was seen as having a positive contribution even in its sensitive village location. The proposals have doubled the footprint of the existing, and with careful consideration of the existing structure the build can be achieved on a tight budget.

The above are my design proposals for a remodel project in Manchester. It was a real challenge to keep the mass and bulk down for planning purposes, and still create quality first floor accommodation. The remodel gives the existing low pitched chalet a completely new contemporary style. The design details have been worked through technically, and I'm really please with the transformation.

I am really pleased that my proposals for Wildfell have been approved by Three Rivers Council in Croxley Green, Hertfordshire. The existing property was really poor against some other beautiful arts and crafts properties in the road, so clever design was needed to turn this into something that made a positive contribution. The application was subject to some minor negotiations at the last minute, but overall the design was not compromised and work is planned to commence in the next couple of months.

EXISTING HOUSE
Here my design for a remodel and facelift design in Croxley Green. The property sits in a road full of arts and crafts character properties, and the owners wanted to change their existing house to match in with the style of the surrounding houses. Click below to see a photo of the existing house.
