“We changed course with Tony Holt Design, and, oh boy, was that a good move! When we approached Tony and his team, we already had some ideas/drawings from our initial architect but this was augmented by new suggestions which proved way better than we could have expected. Although we absolutely loved the new proposals, we were deeply sceptical about it being approved by the planning department as we’re next to a listed building and in the green belt.
Chris was outstanding with managing this side of things - very effective communication with the planning department and we were granted planning permission with no issues - we didn’t need to change a thing - quite unbelievable!
This is the biggest project and financial commitment we will make for a long time and we needed someone straightforward who we could trust. We’ve, without a doubt, found that with Tony Holt Design - it’s the reason why we want them by our side for the next stage of the process.

We engaged with Tony Holt Design in 2016 to provide design services to remodel and enlarge the 1940s house we had just purchased. Tony and Chris visited the property and shortly after came back to us with an amazing design.
Although we collectively considered alternatives we moved forward with the initial version which we then developed into a final design.
They then produced a technical design that enabled myself to engage with trades and suppliers to deliver the build as per their design.
They understood our brief perfectly and we are complimented by everybody that visits the house on how incredible it is.

“They took time to get to understand the extreme sensitivities of a very challenging and limited site, helping us to balance the decision between remodelling and rebuilding. Our meeting with the planning officer and conservation officer was excellently handled.
After 18 months of unsuccessful negotiations with another architect, they managed to navigate through the planning process with reasoning and skill, somehow satisfying the expectations and needs of the local authority whilst still delivering our brief. We are absolutely delighted with the final result. Our building has been tracked by the whole village and is something of a point of interest to passers-by with overwhelming approval of the result.

“Choosing Tony and his team as our designers was critical to the success of the Beechfield House project and we remain delighted clients. The house is spectacular.
We had commissioned another architect prior to Tony, who threw planning and design blockers in the way of what we were seeking to achieve whereas Tony’s approach was to design our dream home and then manage the planning, which went through without a hitch. Tony was able to immediately visualise how we could take advantage of the south-facing opportunity enabling us to enjoy a solar gain in the winter and shade in the summer which has been a huge energy-saving bonus. He was sensitive to our budget and adjusted the initial design to ensure that we never felt that we were compromising.
We’ve been living in the house now for three years and there is nothing that we have, in retrospect, wish we had done differently. We love it and engaging with Tony was the key to this outcome”

We purchased a 1950s chalet bungalow in Hampshire in 2015. After living in it for several years it was as time for a remodel. The moment I saw Tony’s work at a self-build exhibition I knew that no other designer would do.
Tony visited the bungalow and understood what we would like to achieve straight away. He came up with a design which we immediately loved and once the planning was approved our dream house started to evolve.
Tony has an eye for detail and a wonderful design flare. If you are lucky enough to have his team work on your project, stay true to the drawings and design and you will have a wonderful home. We have had so many wonderful comments from friends, neighbours and passers-by.

We worked with Tony and Chris for approximately 18 months and the standard of work was exceptional. The support throughout was always there, many times above and beyond when we encountered challenges with the various suppliers and manufacturers.
An estate agent visited the finished property and was so impressed with the design, that he thought it was worth 10-20% more than the market value for the size of the house. The investment in good design is worth every penny and some! We couldn’t recommend Tony Holt Design highly enough for anyone considering embarking on a self-build project.
After settling into our new home we appointed Tony and the team to design an outbuilding and landscaping for the entire plot. We are looking to start on the works shortly and the design they produced fits perfectly with the house!
